The district is salmonid and spreads through the canyon of the creek Gračnica which is extremely rich in wild brown trouts. Even the counts of Celje had fished here centuries ago.
The creek Gračnica can be listed among better preserved waters in eastern Slovenia. Its journey begins on 460 m altitude and runs in approximately 20km long channel to the outflow into the Savinja near Rimske toplice.
The creek is regulated at the beginning and when you go downstream it creates beautiful meandres. Due to flat land the creek's current is slow. Its journey continues through the wonderful and varied chine Grohotje where the creek runs faster and rocks obstruct the channel. You can admire two waterfalls here: the little one (Počerenski slap) and the big one (Slap pod Marofom).
After that the creek widens into the channel that is occassionally even 10 m wide. You can notice numerous thresholds here. Three dams have been made on the Gračnica : the tall one in Jurklošter (4m) and smaller ones in Brodnice and Zagračnica.
