The Ribiška družina Maribor manages aquatic life on the border between  the alpine world and plane-Carphatian one.  Our geographical position dictates the life in our water where the carps are dominating species : first class specimen of carps and barbels, many catfish and even some pikes. And we are not hard to find considering that we are on the main slovenian road. Fishing has a long tradition in Maribor. The predeccessor of the  today's   Ribiška družina Maribor was The fishing cooperative which had been established on the 25th of January, 1952. In those days The cooperative had managed larger area of the northeastern Slovenia, from Slovenj Gradec, Dravograd all the way up to Poljčane. In 1957 The Act for Freshwater Fishing has  been updated. The fishing districts have been determined and business plan for the next five years has been redone. The preparations for the general assemblies  for the year 1958 have started as well as the preparations for the founding general assembly of the Ribiška družina Maribor, which took place on the 10th of October1958.  This year we celebrate our 55  springs.  The Ribiška družina maribor manages Maribor's fishing environment that measures approximately 210 ha of the fishing waters, 10 ha of these waters represent natural reservations on the Drava and in the ponds. It is forbidden to fish in these areas. Due to their characteristic we divide our waters into two types : the Drava as running water and the ponds as still water. We want all the fishermen to feel at home in our waters. The Ribiška družina  counts 500 members and has approximately 11 000 fishing days a year. Official hours of the fishing lodge : Monday from 17-18 h and Wednesday from 17-18,30 h, in the vacation time ( July and August ) only on Wednesdays. We wish you GOOD CATCH!
