The river Drava

(from the dam in Markovci to the state border with Croatia; lower old channel)

Fishing family Ptuj

This district is an old channel of the river Drava and it is flowing approximately 15m3/s. After three kilometres the river Dravinja flows into it and  its waterflow is always changing - in the times of drought it is barely running but otherwise it fills the quantity levels of water in the Drava's old channel-lower part- nicely. The total surface of the district is around 26ha.

The district is approximately 10km long. The channel is mostly shallow; the depth rarely goes over 1,5m. In the lower edge the district borders with Croatia so it is mandatory to have your identification papers on you as it can happen that you wander on the Croatian part of the border unintentionally and its border police can take you away. You can only ground fish or float fish here.
